Po šesti letech se nám vrátilo národní mistrovství, i když zatím v trochu okleštěné formě, která byla tak napůl mezi starým mistrovstvím (obvykle se hrávalo dvakrát tři kola dvojky a draft) a WMCQ.
Zhruba týden před turnajem vešlo ve známost, že při splnění kvóty 226 hráčů by se hrálo starým systémem, nicméně finální účast 173 hráčů znamenala, že letošní mistrovství bylo (alespoň pro většinu hráčů) jednodenním turnajem.
Návrat oblíbeného turnaje přílákal i staré ostřílené lišáky, o kterých jinak není příliš slyšet - mohli jsme tu vidět hráče jako Petr Nahodil, Ondřej Baudyš, nebo Matěj Vantuch.
Začínalo se pěti koly standardu, kde byl suveréně nejhranějším archetypem Energy Midrange, ať už šlo o RUG, nebo čtyřbarevnou verzi se Scarab Godem. Dohromady tenhle deck hrálo 39 hráčů, přičemž druhý nejpopulárnější Ramunap Red si vybralo pouze hráčů devatenáct.
Překvapením pro mě byla vysoká popularita Eldrazi Rampy, po které sáhlo dvanáct hráčů. Někdo holt nemohl odolat poslednímu rozloučení s Ulamogem...
Po dvojkové části bylo sedm neporažených hráčů, kterým vévodila zkušená čtveřice Tomáš Langer, Ondřej Stráský, Adam Koska a Zbyšek Panchartek.
Po šestém kole jsme znali první postupovou dvojici - Zbyšek Panchartek a Martin Dědek. Postupně se k nim připojili Pavel Matoušek, Dominik Prošek, Matěj Vantuch, Martin Jůza, Tomáš Langer a Tomáš Jirkal.
Smůlu měli Filip Tetera a Martin Ryba. Filip byl se skóre 6:0 dvakrát napárován k soupeři s horším skóre a obě kola prohrál. Martin byl pro změnu jediným nepostupivším hráčem do top8 se skóre 6:1:1.
V nedělní finálové top8 jsme mohli vidět dva Ramunap Redy, Mardu Vehicly s Though-Knot Seerem, UR Control, Monoblack Zombies, URw Approach, GW Rampu a 4C Energy.
S takto rozmanitým fieldem si nejlépe poradili Tomáš Langer s GW Rampou a Tomáš Jirkal se 4C Energií. Šlo o hráče, kteří do top8 vstupovali ze sedmého a osmého místa - a pak že je to hlavně o začínání...
Ve finále se potvrdila dominantní pozice Rampy v soubojích s midrange decky, když hladce zvítězil Tomáš Langer. Bylo to shodou okolností deset let po jeho prvním zisku mistrovského titulu. Pro Tomáše Jirkala šlo o nejlepší životní výsledek. Na týmovém MS je díky zisku nejvíce pro pointů doplní Martin Jůza.
Kromě nationals se konaly i zajímavé turnaje na MTGO. Zejména modernové PTQ patřilo vůbec k největším online constructed turnajům za poslední dobu, když se ho zúčastnilo 329 hráčů.
To samozřejmě znamenalo, že v devíti kolech základní části je k potupu do top8 potřeba uhrát 8:1.
Nejúspšnějším deckem turnaje byl Abzan Midrange, jenž byl třikrát v top8 a dále ještě dvakrát mezi zbytkem hráčů se skóre 7:2 a lépe. S deckem navíc celý turnaj vyhrál "zturchan", když ve finále porazil Monowhite Death and Taxes.
Zajímavé je, že většina hráčů hrála agresivní verzi s Grim Flayerem a Siege Rhinem a jako hlavní zdroj karetní výhody měly Tireless Trackera. Jedna z verzí v top8 dokonce hrála i Garruky.
V top8 dále bylo dvkarát Grixis Death's Shadow (jeden se splashí pro Lingering Souls), UW Control a Gifts Storm.
Na devátém až sedmadvacátém místě byla široká škála nejrůznějších decků. Mezi patnácti různými decky mne nejvíce zaujala UW verze Hexproof decku s kartami jako Invisible Stalker a Stubborn Denial, a dále inovativní Amulet Titan deck, který kromě obvyklých karet hrál navíc ještě Through the Breach a Emrakul.
Zmínku i zaslouží i speciální tech v Eldrazi Tronu, které skončil na desátém místě, v podobě Fleetwheel Cruiserů.

Scavenging Ooze
{G}: Exile target card from a graveyard. If it was a creature card, put a +1/+1 counter on Scavenging Ooze and you gain 1 life.
Tarmogoyf
Tarmogoyf's power is equal to the number of card types among cards in all graveyards and its toughness is equal to that number plus 1.
Surgical Extraction
({B/P} can be paid with either {B} or 2 life.) Choose target card in a graveyard other than a basic land card. Search its owner's graveyard, hand, and library for any number of cards with the same name as that card and exile them. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
Maelstrom Pulse
Destroy target nonland permanent and all other permanents with the same name as that permanent.
Abrupt Decay
Abrupt Decay can't be countered by spells or abilities. Destroy target nonland permanent with converted mana cost 3 or less.
Inquisition of Kozilek
Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a nonland card from it with converted mana cost 3 or less. That player discards that card.
Lingering Souls
Put two 1/1 white Spirit creature tokens with flying onto the battlefield. Flashback {1}{B} (You may cast this card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. Then exile it.)
Thoughtseize
Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a nonland card from it. That player discards that card. You lose 2 life.

V Challengi se nejvíce dařilo Stormu, který zvítězil a ještě k tomu přidal třetí místo. Vítězný deck hrál pár méně obvyklých karet ve vyšším počtu - Peek a Strategic Planing.
Dále jsme v top8 mohli vidět klasický Amulet Titan, zajímavé Eldrazi and Taxes s Wall of Omens a Auriok Championy, RG Scapeshift, Copter Merfolky, Boros Burn a BR Moon s Pack Raty a Rabblemastery.
Další zajímavé decky skončily těsně za top16 - sedmnácté místo patřilo Naya Company, která kromě Vizier komba hrála Nahiri s Emrakul, a osmnáctý byl Jund s Traverse the Ulvenwald. Oba decky měly skóre 5:2.

4. Ostatní Challenge (Legacy, Vintage, Duel Commander, Pauper)
Na legacy se nejvíce dařilo Grixis Delverovi a 4C Controlům, oba měly jednoho zástupce v top8 a celkem sedm v top16.
Z celkového vítězství se radoval SorboOne se zajímavou verzí Delvera bez Young Pyromacera, ve které hrál Snapcastery v kombinaci s levnou disrupcí v podobě Spell Pierců a Stiflů.
V top8 byly dále Death and Taxes se splashí na Orzhov Pontiffa (odpověď na True-Name Nemesis, kterou lze najít Recruiterem of the Guard), UWr Landstill s chuťovkami jako Decree of Justice a Humility, dva Stormy (jeden ze zajímavým sideboard plánem, který zahrnoval karty jako Culling Scales, Dark Confidant a Night's Whisper), Země s Burning Wishem a klasické Death and Taxes.
Mimo top8 byly nejzajímavější decky budget Monored Stompy s kusy jako Chandra's Phoenix a Slash Panter a Esper Stoneblade s Jacem, Vryn's Prodigy.
You may pay 1 life and remove a blue card in your hand from the game instead of paying Force of Will's casting cost. Effects that prevent or redirect damage cannot be used to counter this loss of life. Counter target spell.

Tři decky, které prolomily nadvládu "velké čtyřky" byly UR Tempo s Ludevicem a Kraumem, Monoblue Control s Teferim a Mardu Walkeři s Queen Marchesou.

Pauper výjimečně překvapil nízkou rozmanitostí, když v top16 bylo pouze pět různých decků. První čtyři místa si mezi sebou rovným dílem rozdělily Atog Affinita a Delver (1× MonoU, 1× UR). Za nimi se seřadila trojice WR Metalcraftu a na osmém místě skončil nejzajímavější deck v celé top16 - Monoblack Devotion s Gray Merchanty a kombíčkem Crypt Rats + Cartouche of Ambition.
Za top8 už byla pouze tři Monogreen Aggra, čtyři Delveři (3× UR, 1× MonoU) a další WR Metalcraft.
Select a creature in play when Oubliette is cast. That creature is considered out of play as long as Oubliette is in play. Hence the creature cannot be the target of spells and cannot receive damage, use special powers, attack, or defend. All counters and enchantments on the creature remain but are also out of play. If Oubliette is removed, creature returns to play tapped.

5. Další zajímavé turnaje
Na závěr se podíváme na čtveřici dalších zajímavých turnajů. Začneme v Německu, kde se konalo modernové Open pořádané JK Entertainmentem. Zúčastnilo se ho 103 hráčů a v top8 jsme mimo jiné mohli vidět zajímavé decky jako Bushwhacker Zoo a Monoblue Extra Turns.
Ve finále porazil Manuel Menges s Affinitou Boros Burn Marcela Stockera.

Dalším pánem na holení je španělská (katalánská) vintage z Barcelony, kam si přišlo zahrát 35 hráčů.
Zvítězil tu Ruben Peréz s BUG Controlem (žádné Managorger Hydry), když ve fináe porazil Dredge s maindeck Hollow One.
Na dalších místem byli dvoji Grixis Thieves, znovu BUG Control, UWR Mentor s Time Vault/Voltaic Key kombem, Paradoxical Storm s Mystic Remorou a agresivní verze Ballista Shopů s Hangarback Walkerem. Všechny decklisty si můžete prohlédnout zde.
Rozloučíme se Duel Commanderem, který se konal kousek od Strassbourgu, a kterého se zúčastnilo 39 hráčů. Na turnaji byl dobře vidět problém, který pro duel commander představují každoroční speciální commander produkty. V posledních letech vždy obsahovaly velmi silné generály, které naprosto dominovaly formátu, čímž si poměrně rychle vysloužili ban.
Nejinak tomu bylo i letos, kdy francouzskou variantu formátu naprosto ovládli vampýři v čele s Edgar Markovem. Deck byl naprosto neuvěřitelný a s generovanou výhodou nešlo prakticky nic dělat. Edgar Markov byl tak hned při první příležitosti zabanován...
Na tomhle turnaji obsadil první tři místa, ale na druhou stranu tu máme i dvojici pěkných brew v podobě Grixis Controlu s Kess a BUG Midrange/Reanimátoru se Sidisi.
